In 1938 his family moved to the Bruce and Minnie Herman ranch where Ray grew up with his sisters. As a young man, Ray worked road construction and helped build the Highway 16 bridge at Chamberlain, SD.He met the love of his life at a dance in Presho, SD. This union welcomed three children – Guy, Timothy, and Dawn.
In addition to his wife Twyla, Ray’s surviving family members include three children and their families– Sioux Falls residents Guy and Pamela, and their children Charysh, Miranda, and Garrett; Presho, SD residents Tim and Rita and their sons Todd and Mike; and Vivian, SD residents Dawn and Pat and their children Cody, Arielle, and Jeff. He attended school in Kennebec, SD and graduated from high school in 1951. In later years, he worked for Custom Wood Works until retiring in 2007.The family then moved to the family homestead south of Presho.On the homestead Daryld and his family raised cattle and wheat.Memorial services for Jo Ann Houser, 83, of Oacoma, SD will be Monday, May 28, 2018 at pm at the Oacoma Community Center in Chamberlain with burial of the ashes in the Graceland Cemetery at Oacoma.A lunch will be served at the Community Center following the burial.
